IT’S 100% FUCKING ILLOGICAL TO EXPECT MEN TO HAVE THIS RIPPED SIX-PACK ABS AND BE SKINNY AND HAVE PERFECT SKIN AND FACIAL COMPLEXION!  MEN ALSO EXPERIENCE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE WITH OUR BODIES ALL. THE. FUCKING. TIME.

Did you know while some of the proportions in mannequins are inhuman, most male models aren’t heavily altered. Also, even though not ever body chemistry is the same, men on average and biologically speaking have a much easier time building muscle and losing/gaining weight.

These images are more motivation than anything to me, and none of this is really unrealistic. Just have to actually put in the effort to do it.

Alright so this one is one of those comments I really would like to make very clear WHY I am saying this is unrealistic and unfair.  I will agree, the proportions aren’t as heavily altered as women’s and men DON’T have it as tough as women.  What I’m trying to obtain by this post is bringing into light that although women do have a tough time this does NOT invalidate the body image issues of men.

Now onto why this is unrealistic and illogical to expect men to look like this.  I don’t know how much you know about the male body but while building muscle is easy, showing muscle is not.  And while showing muscle is not easy, having muscles build in the same proportions and be “perfectly aligned” is near impossible because people’s bodies are NOT the same and they are far from always being symmetrical.

Even if you did build a lot of muscle, and trust me, it takes a LOT of heavy working out to build up enough to really start seeing results.  The only way to SHOW the muscles to that extreme is to starve and dehydrate yourself.  Any food or water will result in bloating and extra fat and muscles only show when your fat levels drop below an unhealthy amount.  Water will also add weight and push between your muscles and skin which reduces how much muscle shows.  Many models are required to not eat or drink much for a few days before a shoot just so their muscles can show decently.  If you want the “pretty boy perfect muscles” you need to allocate 6 out of 7 days per week to working out, and spend a minimum of 3 hours per day.  You then also need to make sure you don’t eat anything that will “bulk you up” because that will not show the muscles as defined.

Secondly is the symmetry of the muscles which are highly unrealistic.  Most males who do form some sort of abs/pecs/other heavily shown muscles are not perfectly symmetrical.  All these ads and models show “perfect symmetry” and it’s literally impossible to achieve that if you don’t naturally have it.

Overall what I’m saying is, yes, women do have it worse and I recognize that.  But men also have body image issues and the rate of eating disorders in males is INCREASING at a steady rate which shows many issues in what we are pushing males to be.  Whereas you see these images as “motivation” many see it as “expectations” the same as skinny women’s models may be “motivating” to some females while intimidating and demeaning to others.  So before you start saying that this is “easily accomplished” and I’m “just whining” please make sure you know exactly WHAT I’m bitching about because I have a damn good reason to bitch in this case.

FUCK THAT.
Men have not nearly as much pressure. Next to no one values men on whether or not like this, but women are expected to look like the female equivalents or be treated inherently less.

"my problems are worse than your problems, therefore your problems do not count" is exactly what you just said.
